If you’re headed to Austin, you’ve probably already bookmarked a few things to do and mapped out your taco and barbecue pit stops. But have you thought about how you’re going to get there?

No, we don’t mean the flight (that you should book at least two weeks in advance for the best savings). We’re talking about after you land.

To help you get prepared, we’ve asked our friends at GroundLink to provide you with a comprehensive overview of your ground transportation options from the Austin airport. A version of this post originally appeared on the GroundLink blog.

Pick-Up at the Austin Airport

After a long flight, the last thing you want to do is worry about finding a ride or take a long walk with your luggage to find that ride.

At Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), passengers booking a ride with a taxi or rideshare company are required to meet their drivers in a separate rideshare lot.

Passengers can avoid the long walk and wait time by booking pickup from the Austin airport with GroundLink.

GroundLink is allowed to park closer to the terminal, and a private driver will greet you inside! Once you meet your driver, they will assist you with your luggage and escort you on the short walk to your private car.

Riding with Cabs and Rideshare Companies

Austin Airport has become the latest major airport to move rideshare companies to a separate lot, in an effort to reduce airport traffic and ensure smooth airport pickup for travelers.

These changes, however, require passengers using rideshare companies to walk their bags 600 feet–a distance the equivalent of two football fields–to meet their driver!

After leaving the baggage claim, passengers are required to exit and cross the street, go up one floor, walk across one parking garage, and then walk across to a rideshare parking lot, where their driver awaits. The rideshare lot can be challenging to find and is often quite crowded.

Here’s what www.austintexas.gov states in terms of AUS Airport Taxi and Ride-App pickups:

“From Lower-Level / Baggage Claim: Exit baggage claim of the Barbara Jordan Terminal to cross the street and enter the garage. Take garage elevators to Level 2. Walk through the pathway found in the center of the garage or take mobility assistance towards Taxi, ride app and Rental Car signs to cross the garage. You will reach pickup area after crossing the road.

From Upper-Level / Drop-off and Ticketing: Exit the Barbara Jordan Terminal to use the pedestrian crosswalk to cross the street to the garage. Walk through the parking garage following the signs to the Rental Car Facility. Take the elevators on left, down one floor (Level G) to reach pickup area.”

Riding with GroundLink Black Car Service

Although curbside pickup isn’t allowed at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, GroundLink can park very close to your arriving terminal and your private driver will greet you inside.

When you schedule airport pickup with GroundLink, you’ll receive new SMS instructions sent straight to your mobile device once you land.

For international flights, your driver will be waiting outside customs, and for domestic flights, your driver will be waiting at the bottom of the escalator leading to the baggage claim area. Once you meet your driver, you’ll be escorted to your private car and dropped off at the location of your choice.

For more information, visit the GroundLink blog or book a ride online.

We actually have business guests in town all the time for my job and my husbands job and I feel like we've been able to show them all of the hotspots around town in 24 hours easily.

Please know that this is a quick, 24 hours in Memphis guide - showcasing a snapshot of what the city has to offer - and for more to do in Memphis, you can always visit my blog where I’m always adding new resources like a comprehensive Memphis guide coming soon.

Where to Eat?

If there's one thing that Memphis is known for, it's our good food ... particularly BBQ. You really can't come to Memphis without going to at least one BBQ Restaurant, so of course I had to include one of those on the list. Central BBQ is a Memphis staple and if you don't like traditional BBQ, you must try their BBQ nachos!

Another cheaper place to get something to eat is Gus' Fried Chicken downtown. But get there early because there is always a line.

[image id='2902'] [image id='2900'] [image id='2899']

If you're in need of a coffee shop with WiFi, look no further than Main Street's Cafe Keough. Cafe Keough is based off of traditional European cafes and has outdoor seating as well as ample indoor seating. They offer coffee, lattes, and pastries as well as a full lunch menu.

If you've got a client in town with you and you need a nice dinner spot, I've got two recommendations for you.

Number one is Beauty Shop, which is a funky eclectic restaurant that actually looks like an old beauty shop (hence the name). You can sit at the bar and just have drinks, or get a table and dine on their delicious dishes. The Beauty Shop does tend to get busy, so grab a reservation if you know you'll be going.

Number two is Catherine & Mary's which is an Italian restaurant downtown. This place has beautiful architecture inside, and people rave about the Italian food options there. This would be the perfect spot if you need a nice place to take a client, I promise you won't be disappointed!

The Arcade Restaurant is an iconic Memphis diner located in South Main historic district, and is actually Memphis' oldest cafe, operating since 1919. The Arcade Restaurant is family-owned and offers delicious home-cooked food in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Things to Do

Beale Street in Memphis is akin to Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Walk down Beale and you will find plenty of jazz clubs, blues venues, lots of greasy food, and plenty of fun things to do. It's definitely a "must see" if you've never been to Memphis.

Located right off of downtown is Harbor Town on Mud Island. Harbor Town has lots of cute little shops, restaurants, and plenty of places to sit and people watch. You can cross the street and go over to the riverwalk area where you can actually walk right along the Mississippi River.

Stax Museum of American Soul Music is a must-see if you are ever in Memphis because you get to learn about all of the iconic musicians that got their start right here in Memphis.

[image id='2969'] [image id='2968']

The National Civil Rights Museum is a complex of museums and historic buildings in Memphis, Tennessee. The exhibits trace the history of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States from the 17th century to the present.

Where to Stay?

[image id='2904'] [image id='2903']

The Peabody Hotel is the iconic Memphis hotel where you can see the ducks march twice daily at 10:00am and 5:00pm. The Peabody is located in the heart of downtown Memphis and has an always entertaining lobby bar with live piano players in the evening. Be sure to check out the views from the rooftop while you're there.

Pro Travel Tips

For a great view of the city and the Mississippi River, head to the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid and pay $10 to go to the rooftop bar. From the rooftop, you can see some spectacular views of the Mississippi and enjoy a drink while you're up there.

If you want to get some fresh air and a little exercise, try walking, biking, or scootering across the Big River Crossing Bridge, which is an old railroad bridge that was turned into a pedestrian walking bridge to go across the Mississippi river.

[call_to_action bg_color="#1B2432" color="#fff" title="Heading to Memphis?" button_text="Download TravelBank & Book" button_link="https://tb.app.link/blog"]Book your next flight with TravelBank to score exclusive deals and earn rewards for beating the average price.[/call_to_action
https://travelbank.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/memphis-24-hour-guide-pipmegan-travelbank-1-620x620.jpg
Visiting Seattle, one of the west coast’s jewel cities—seriously, we’re called the Emerald City—on business doesn’t mean you can’t spend part of your time experiencing all this iconic and adventurous city has to offer.

Sometimes business trips can be stressful, but in a city overflowing with fresh air, evergreen trees, and the best coffee in the States, taking an extra day to enjoy it before heading back home will refresh and inspire you in ways only Seattle can.

Check Into Your Hotel

The Kimpton Hotel properties in Seattle all offer a great mix of business and pleasure, but my personal favorite is the Palladian, which boasts portraits of Seattle’s finest celebrities in the lobby, notably the inimitable Dr. Frasier Crane. It’s also a great location for visiting all of downtown Seattle’s hotspots: Pike Place Market, the Great Wheel, and more.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BevuDE6H71I/

Get a Caffeine Buzz

After waking up, your first stop should be coffee, of course. The La Marzocco café at the KEXP radio station is a cool space to hang out, drink some quality coffee, and do some casual record shopping.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BnEzR6YhIKX/

If it’s raining, it’s easy to get to on the iconic Monorail Line that runs from Westlake Center to Seattle Center. Grab a selfie with the Space Needle in the courtyard at KEXP. And if it’s not raining, start your leisurely stroll back downtown. On the walk back, stop at Macrina Bakery for an egg sandwich or pastry. The food vendors at Pike Place Market also offer great options for a quick breakfast, but it can get crazy between 9-10 AM on weekdays and all day long on weekends.

Explore Seattle’s Museums or Go Shopping

If museums are your thing, the Frye Art Museum or the Chihuly Garden & Glass Museum are both stunning places to spend a couple cozy hours. While the Frye has an interesting history, the Chihuly museum houses some truly impressive pieces, especially for fans of the notable glass artist.

https://www.instagram.com/p/6JvdcPBnX7/

If you live life a little faster than museum speed, head up to Capitol Hill for some shopping. Stop at Glasswing to elevate your Seattle style and Elliott Bay Books for something to read on the flight home, and don’t forget to take a picture next to the Jimi Hendrix statue nearby.

Grab a Bite to Eat for Lunch

When it comes to eating lunch, you’re spoiled for choice in Capitol Hill—while a decades-old favorite is Dick’s Drive In for burgers, fries, and quick milkshakes, Oddfellows right next to Elliott Bay Books is perfect if you’re in the mood for something fresh and probably organic.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BojkmGMH3S3/

There’s usually a great soup on deck, or the Quinoa & French Lentil Bowl is guaranteed to keep your energy up.

Take in the Great Outdoors

We love our greens up in the Pacific Northwest, which is why Volunteer Park is a beautiful option for whiling away the afternoon. Stop into the Conservatory for a relaxing experience (or cover from the rain)—they have a gift shop if you haven’t found your perfect souvenir yet!

https://www.instagram.com/p/BmRsINHliYU/

Or, if you’re looking for a view, cut across the lake to Gas Works Park and experience the giant jungle gym (no climbing, though) that used to be a gas plant looking straight across Lake Union to the beautiful Seattle skyline. There are plenty of great trails and neighborhoods around to explore before dinner, but I’d recommend heading back to the skyline view for sunset. With a backdrop like that, you’re guaranteed some spectacular photos!

Dine at an Award-Winning Restaurant

Feeling refreshed? For food and drinks, you’re going to want to swing right over to Ballard where dozens of award-winning restaurants live on Ballard Avenue, especially if you’re looking for seafood.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Boey2H3Fu4g/

Personally, I’d recommend hopping up one block to Leary Way and eating at Billy Beach Sushi. If you sit at the bar, you’ll be rewarded with happy hour prices lasting until 8 PM. Even if you sit in the restaurant, happy hour will still last until 7!

Sip on a Signature Cocktail

Afterwards, stop around the corner for a cocktail at Hazlewood, an intimate little hangout for locals, and then make your way down to Percy’s for something special from their apothecary-inspired libations menu.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BWp07qshZda/

It’s no understatement when I say this list is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to adventures to be found in Seattle, so once your meetings are over, head out with an open mind and let this seaside city of innovation and industry sweep you off your feet.

[call_to_action bg_color="#1B2432" color="#fff" title="Heading to Seattle?" button_text="Download TravelBank & Book" button_link="https://tb.app.link/blog"]Book your next flight with TravelBank to score exclusive deals and earn rewards for beating the average price.[/call_to_action]
