The 8 Best Happy Hours in Los Angeles
Ahh, happy hour, how we love thee! Those after work hours where most Angelenos will find themselves in rush hour hell but could be sipping on a glass of $5 Chardonnay instead. So, the next time you’re thinking of heading home at 5 PM, trade the traffic for a head start (and sweet deal) on dinner. Get more bang for your buck at these 8 happy hour spots around the city. You’re welcome.
Citizen
This Beverly Hills gem has one of our favorite happy hour menus dubbed The Lucky Seven because it includes 7 items for $7 until, you guessed it, 7 PM! The seasonal yet eclectic menu has something for everyone — lamb meatballs for the carnivores, soba noodles for the noodle slurpers or mussels for seafood lovers. Grab a seat on the patio and pair your snacks with a tall boy of wine (read: a very generous pour) and enjoy people watching in 9-0-2-1-0.
Gracias Madre West Hollywood
One of LA’s most beloved patios adorned with string lights, colorful, mismatched pillows, and plenty of seating to compliment the warm summer nights, Gracias Madre attracts both vegans and carnivores alike. The $7 happy hour menu offered from 3-6 PM on weekdays includes a range of Mexican snacks like nachos and tostadas or delicious libations like their seasonal (and sneaky) sangria that will creep up on you.
The Friend
This Silver Lake bar was born because of a shared passion for food, drinks, music and art from a trio of friends. While they do offer carefully curated seasonal cocktails, it’s hard to pass up drinks from their daily happy hour menu that includes a $3 Peroni, house wine for $5, and Moscow mules for $6. Oh, and did we mention it’s available until 9 PM? Now that’s a friend you can count on.
Cecconi’s
This corner Melrose restaurant is the place to see and be seen on any night of the week but especially during happy hour. On Tuesdays through Saturdays from 4-7 PM Cecconi’s is bustling and if you’re one of the lucky few to snag a seat at the bar you can enjoy any of their aperitivo items like baked gnocchi, meatballs in tomato sauce, or pizzettas. Of course, it’s not happy hour without a drink in hand (and they’ve got options) so pick your poison and celebrate the golden hour with gusto.
Beefsteak
Don’t be fooled by the name, Beefsteak is a plant-based restaurant concept by Top Chef Marcel Vigneron that celebrates sustainable and seasonal California produce. The restaurant recently launched a (minimal) daily happy hour menu where you can get two tacos for $5 and wash ‘em down with a drink like a hibiscus margarita for $8.
FIG Santa Monica
Who doesn’t love the words half off? Everyday from 5-6 PM, FIG Santa Monica slashes their prices on almost all menu items like bucatini pasta, manila clams and more. But the FIG at Five menu which applies to drinks as well, only runs for an hour (hey, it is happy hour) so knock yourself out before the clock strikes 6!
Corner Door
The Culver City watering hole does happy hour right with a combination of run-of-the-mill cocktails and small plates (with the latter being offered as a late night option as well). Order the burger if you’re extra hungry and choose any of their drinks like a margarita or Moscow mule for less than $10.
Pour Haus Wine Bar
Pour Haus must love happy hour as much as we do because they’ve got options, plenty of ‘em. From 4-7 PM everyday you can pick from a laundry list of $5 food and drinks like oxtail tacos, grilled cheese ‘n soup, or a glass of sangria. Heck, for $5, you can go crazy and get one of each!
